I’m wallowing in the 15th century right now and on my desk is this wonderful book: Medieval Costume, Armour and Weapons (Dover Fashion and Costumes).
Eduard Wagner was a heroic WWII Czech soldier, former member of the French Foreign Legion, early HEMA experimenter and seminal curator.
The book, of course, is out of date in places. However – my god! – it is inspiring and has lots and lots of pictures, some lifted from other books, some sketches of weapons in Bohemian museums.
